Days off
Ah it is time once again for my usual Tuesday/Wednesday set of days off. While most others enjoy Saturday/Sunday I get T/W. Its not all that bad though since Tuesday is DVD/Video Game/DLC release day. When I couldn’t afford buying new games or DVDs I woulda hated Tuesdays off but nowadays its all good. Marvel Vs. Capcom 3, Dead Space 2, Dragon Age 2, and F.E.A.R. 3 were definite highlights of this revelation.
Sadly, being the holiday shopping season, I can’t be running around buying myself sh*t no matter how many times I swoop through Wal-Mart or K-Mart or Target’s toy aisles can I allow myself to nab up action figures and collectibles I’d been waiting for. So far the only toys/collectibles I’ve picked up have been for my younger cousins and my Dad. (He keeps asking if I’ve gottena round to wrapping his Boba Fett LEGO clock, I haven’t.) My Uncle Albert’s boys are already in their early to mid-teens so I can’t saddle them up with the usual 6” Marvel and DC Superheroes action figures instead, since last year I got them Limited Edition version of Halo: Reach, I nabbed a boxed set of Noble Team and a Warthog for them to drive around in (In addition to some choice games from Gamestop).
Just like my Dad, my Uncle is the other Black Sheep of their family, so he and the boys get left out by the rest of the families, so I like to make sure my cousins get some choice swag (schwag? shwag? bah) from their extended family so that they know that more than just their Dad and their Moms care about ‘em.
I was hoping to get both of ‘em some Subscriptions to some Comics that they can get some sweet sweet 4 color goodness every month but with DC Comics rebooting ALL OF THEIR TITLES I have no clue what titles would be good/appropriate for them. While on the Marvel side too many comic book series are wrapped up in sweeping company wide crossovers to get the boys started on the right foot.
I’d get them some books but everything I read at their age was wholly inappropriate for my age level. 12 year olds should not read Cujo, fyi. Big dogs still kinda give me the heebie jeebies.
Anywho, I’ll probably be spending Tuesday sleeping them doing some late night shopping trying to find my babysister her gift… which she specifically described as follows “a pillow that is thin enough to be folded in half yet remains cool on both sides, but when you flip it over its even cooler on the otherside”. I believe this pillow she talks of doesn’t actually exist outside of her fantasies.
