The Return of the Lady-King

Okay, so ever since my Dark Elf up and made herself Lady-King of the House of Ballads she’s been gettin’ hit on alot more. NPCs that were rather indifferent to her back when she was a Level 4 Obvious Pickpocket are now pointing out what a mighty pervert/beauty she is now that she’s a Level 23 Sneaky Witch-Thief.

Now that I’ve ventured out into Amalur proper, visiting the plains and deserts of the land, I’ve decided before undertaking any further parts of the Main Quest or Faction storylines I’d revisit the older quests I left unfinished due to being wholly unprepared to fight stacks of Rock Trolls and infectious bands of Brownies. (I f*ckin’ hate Brownies and Sprites.)

OOH, which reminds me there is a random side quest where you can summon a sort of pet Boggart that will follow you around and defend you. BUT the Boggart is easily distracted by environmental goings on like it will chase the shadows of the birds that pass overhead during the day or chase glowing butterflies at night. Yet its still amazingly loyal to you since at one point I travelled by foot (instead of fast travelling) to a location a quarter of the map from where I spawned the damn Boggart and I was suddenly jumped by simultaneous ambushes by Wolves and Assassins. It was a long fight since I was travelling by foot to gather plants to make heal and mana potions as I was completely out and didn’t want to spend any gold on buying something I could make for free at one of my safehouses.

After taking out all the Charging Wolves and the Archer Assassins, I was left with 3 Dagger wielding Assassins, I was at half life and had Zero mana since I went spellĀ  crazy and kept stun-locking the wolf pack as I dispatched the Archers. So I had no ability to heal and as the 3 Assassins cornered me and I prepared to parry as many of their blows as possible the damn Boggart I summoned appeared out of nowhere and just went to town soundly thrashing the Assassins.

He is my hero, and pretty much the only other combat competent friendly NPC I’ve run into (not voiced by Laura Bailey). The other Combat Competent NPC is Gwyn Anwy (voiced by Laura Bailey, as is 25% of the female population of Amalur). Seriously, the voice acting is pretty damn good in the game and thats because Laura Bailey does a goodly amount of it.

Also as you get towards the middle of the map areas you run into ALOT of Cam Clarke voiced NPCs. (Mostly Elves. Some Shirtless Elven Dudes even, fyi.)

TL;DR: Every Boggart is adorable and deadly, but not every Boggart wants you dead. And prepare yourselves to hear Laura Bailey talk to Laura Bailey.
